The Epstein Barr virus that causes mononucleosis or glandular fever can affect both the heart muscle (myocarditis) and the membrane around the heart (pericarditis). Treating Epstein Barr virus and heart complications, requires careful monitoring from your doctor or health professional.

Myocarditis and pericarditis are both inflammatory states, so symptoms can include fluid buildup, pain, discomfort, shortness of breath, abnormal heart beat and fatigue.

Natural treatment is aimed at boosting the immune system in order to fight the virus. Natural anti-inflammatories and nerve repair supplements are added to help manage the symptoms.

Treating Epstein Barr virus with supplements like vitamin C, zinc and fish oils is recommended to boost immunity and reduce the inflammation.  Anti-inflammatory foods like ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper, pineapple and paw paw are also beneficial.

To help improve the nerve supply and circulation to the heart muscle, magnesium, vitamin E  and the B complex are important. CoQ10 can also
help to boost the energy supply in the heart cells.

For patients with discomfort or heaviness in the heart region, Epsom salt baths are excellent. A heat pack or hot water bottle applied to the chest is also worth trying.

Treating Epstein Barr virus in patients with heart complications requires careful dietary planning. A higher protein diet which has an anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting action is recommended. Drinking at least 2 – 3 litres of water a day to flush out the virus and toxins in the system is essential.

Treating Epstein Barr virus in patients with heart complications involves the use of nutrients, herbs, healthy diet, stress management, lifestyle adjustments, graded exercise, restoration of normal sleep patterns and strategies to overcome the frustration, depression and social isolation that this illness so commonly causes.
